One of the most common topics in the fashion world is the all-mighty graphic tee! You don’t have to look far in a magazine or store front to realize a great way to wear one is with a jacket or blazer but I want to take it a step further and show some different ways that you can play up a simple staple to your wardrobe!
Shown above is the new T-shirt I received as a gift for Christmas from Zara and thus, my first example… When you really want the graphic to be the focal point of the outfit and if it’s a strong enough of a design, I suggest pairing it with a really basic pair of neutral gray or black slim denim. You get a sleekness from the denim that displays the shirt as though it were perched on an easel.
Secondly on the lady side of thing, and true to winter, pair a vintage t with a huge maxi skirt! Although a bit unconventional in fit and silhouette, adding a rocking belt or hat can take this number from an odd look to fantastically original and bohemian! Seriously, give it a try!
On the man side of the fence, I love to pair a graphic t shirt with an edgy studded jean vest! The look definitely exudes rocker chic, but who couldn’t use a little bit of bling in their life? My suggestion is to avoid pairing it with alot of jewelry or other accessories. Doing so can make it turn from simply a nod to the rocker look to a full blown metalhead. If you’re going to use a statement piece, play it up by letting it be the lone statement!
Although these are only a few of the many cool ways to rock a t shirt, one of the simplest answer to the question is to play around with layering, accessories, thickness, and pairing. The whole point of fashion is to wear what you love so what the heck?! Take a risk or two!
