Runway shows that changed my life.

So much has changed since junior high when I started to pour over fashion magazines and follow designers. I remember the excitement of being exposed to an entirely new world. I wanted to share with my readers a couple of the shows that inspired me in my fashion endeavors! Not only do both of these designers continually set the pace in originality but also in catering to a younger audience! The first time I saw these shows I remember being completely drawn in and completely inspired to take my own personal fashion to another level!  Without further a due, Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2007 and DSquared2 Fall 2010 Menswear.

The Dolce show is within itself one of the most innovative collections I’ve seen.  Not because of some extreme Avant Garde appeal, but rather break through use of fabric textures while maintaining a certain elegance.  The way they use the outside shell of clear plastic with a buttery smooth under layer on some of the signature looks is well…magic! It’s chic meets innovation at it’s best!

When it comes to edgy wearable menswear, I look no further than DSquared2.  As stated above, I’m a huge fan of combining textures, looks, or fabrics and this collection screams a collision between rocker and James Bond.  Granted, the show is a bit on the morbid side, yet it’s the best of both worlds giving the DSquared2 man the opportunity to be both “dapper” and street smart.

Both shows walk the line between straight laced tailoring and fantasy.  And that my friends, is exactly how I would describe my style-partially as a result of the above two shows.  Enjoy!
