As a blogger, I’m constantly looking for inspiration. Sometimes you need some help getting your creative juices going! Whether it’s checking out magazines to find out what’s on trend from the runways or reading other blogs such as http://lolasfashion.wordpress.com , http://jonnymetbird.com , http://ilovegreeninspiration.com , and http://chloescravings4savings.wordpress.com , I’m always on the prowl for fresh and new fashion ideas. Over the past year, I’ve collected quite a few style and design books so I wanted to share some of my recommendations! Enjoy!
“Nomad” written by Sibela Court is a design book showing all sorts of interior displays inspired by her world travels. Each idea throughout the book has a color palette shown to ensure the reader knows which colors to choose when reciprocating her room ideas. It’s also just an all around beautiful book to look through, full of great ideas and beautiful photos!
“Fruits” from PHAIDON and designed by Jess Wolfe is a photo series covering Japanese street fashion. With bold statements and sometimes hysterical combinations, the examples of what people are wearing on the streets in Japan provide for out of the box inspiration on what to try and a lot of the time, what to avoid.
“atlas of FASHION designers” by Laura Eceiza is an anthology of sorts collecting information regarding many global fashion design brands but also many smaller time designers that I had never heard of. With full-page photos and runway shows and editorial campaigns, Eceiza captures the essence of each designer. It’s a great resource if you’re looking to find some looks that haven’t yet been discovered or covered by major magazines or trend publications!
“Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” by Andrew Bolton with photos from Solve Sundsbo is perhaps one of the most interesting and eye-catching displays of one of the most iconic designers of all time. I mean what can I say? It’s Alexander McQueen at his finest! And all in one place! Seriously, this book is worth every penny!
I think I need that Savage Beauty book. I flip through it at the Kaneko Library every time I am there.
It was absolutely worth the investment. I actually saw this really cool book on Japanese fashion at half price books last night that you would really like too!
I had a rare break in my schedule yesterday and I tried catching up on your blog and it was down. I thought it was gone forever! I’m so happy you’re still blogging.
I’m trying to take it at least a bit more seriously… but ultimately I’m just having a TON of fun with it! You’re doing well?
Yep, I’m great. Did a string of costuming projects in the fall and now I’m ready for new projects! Excited!
Excellent!
